Lord Samson seduces Hilliswid, daughter of Lord Rodger, and goes with her into a refuge. Lord Samson slays the noble brothers Lord Brunstein (Brunsten) and Lord Rodger, and takes over their land and residence with obvious agreement of his kinsman Thetmar, the brother of his father. |

Birth of Weland (= Velent). Birth of Hildebrand, grandson of Lord Ragbald of 'Venedi'. Approximate time of birth of Ermenrik, son of Samson.

Lord Ake, the later duke, mentioned as step-son of Lord Samson. Weland given to Mime the smith for an apprenticeship. After three years Weland leaves Mime for a two years apprenticeship at Ballova smithy. (Ignoring the addition to the MSS that young Weland met Sigfrid at Mime's smithy for identifying Nidung with 'Eylimi', cf Elder Edda and Saga of the Volsungs. See Ritter 1999:165* from another chronological point of view.) Weland slays the Ballova Smiths and moves to King Nidung's realm at 'Thiodi', Jutland. King Sigmund of Tarlunga marries Sissibe, daughter of
King Nidung who resides in the Hesbaye. King Sigmund goes to war
to aid King Drasolf, his brother-in-law.

King Osantrix of Vilcinaland makes a smart coup by marching
to the residence of Melias, King of Hunaland.
Lord Samson extorts the King of Bern, demanding his daughter,
12 free-born virgins, and other tribute from him. He goes out martially
from Appolij to eastern lands where he conquers Bern.
Samson dies of disease. |

Birth of Didrik. Birth of Gunter (= Gunnar). Hildebrand moves to Bern and becomes tutor of Didrik. Atala, son of Frisian King Osid, takes over the realm of King Melias and moves to Soest, his new southern residence. King Ermenrik conquers 'Rome' (Roma secunda = Trier on the Moselle).

Didrik appointed King of Bern. Heime and other first followers join King Didrik. Wideke, son of Velant the Smith, comes to Bern and pits his strength against King Didrik who takes as his follower. King Didrik's adventurous trip to the Osning woodlands.
Heime banished.
First Imperial Diet of King Ermenrik at 'Rome' with King
Didrik, Duke Ake and King Atala.
King Didrik goes with King Atala to war against the Vilcinians. Wildefer, masqueraded as a bear for a tricky plan to release Wideke, kills King Osantrix. King Didrik aids successfully his kinsman King Ermenrik against Rimstein ('Runsten') on obvious Alemannian territory. Sigfrid at King Isung of 'Bertanga'. Grand Banquet of King Didrik's followers at Bern where he decides to go out to King Isung and compete against Sigfrid and the kingly sons. The wandering King Isung expels the dying King Artus 'Arkimannus' and his sons Iron and Apollonius from Mid-Saxon 'Bertanga'. Both flee to King Atala who appoints them lords of lands in his realm. Duke Iron meets 'Sal(u)mon', mentioned as mighty king of 'Frankish realm' that extents into today's Westerwald woodlands on the eastern side of the Rhine. |

| 490 | King Didrik attends Second Imperial Diet of King Ermenrik
at 'Rome'.
Sigfrid married King Gunter's sister Grimhilde before 490. King Sigfrid is ruling Rhine-Frankish territory between the Eiffel and the Rhine by appointment of King Didrik. King Gunter is married with Queen Brynhilde. Duke Ake slays Iron. He came to his brother Apollonius in order to go hunting in the Rhine lands, but in fact to have an affair with Duke Ake's wife. Duke Ake the Elder dies. Wideke quits King Didrik and becomes follower of King Ermenrik. King Ermenrik agrees with his advisor Sevekin to get rid
of Frederic, Regbald, and Samson II, all of them mentioned as Ermenrik's
sons. Duke Ake and his brother Eggart die in the attack of King Ermenrik's
troops.

The Niflunga brothers slay him on a woodland trip.

Didrik goes out to meet King Ermenrik martially, but has to take high losses at Gransport on the Moselle's mouth for the fall of two sons of King Atala, good friends of Didrik. Wildefer kills Walter of Waskenstein, banner-bearer of King Ermenrik. Ercha, spouse of King Atala, dies.

King Atala marries Grimhilde, widow of King Sigfrid (d).

Grimhilde invites her Niflungs brothers to the residence
of her spouse. They accept and leave their realm with all folks under arms
for 'Susa' (Soest), fortressed capital of Hunaland. All Niflungs fall.
King Atala, nevertheless taking heavy losses, finally makes King Didrik,
for the most part the independent observer of the battle, to slay Grimhilde.
King Ermenrik dies of severe abdominal disease. King Didrik moves out from Bern to overthrew Sevekin whom he defeats at 'Grächenborg' on the Moselle. |
